Update: Surgery #2
Heidi has just gone into her second surgery to repair her hip, pelvis, and clavicle. We also learned that she has a few cracked ribs. This will be a 4-6 hour surgery and might require multiple incisions around her hip (front and back) depending on access through the first incision for the repairs.
Her Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Ralston, made the decision to perform this important surgery sooner than later because she was stable overnight.
She is in good spirits, alert and talking. Erin was able to comb her hair this morning and remove debris from the accident, lots of small pieces of glass, dirt, and other things from the impact.
As I read the numerous responses on social media I get very emotional. I was able to share names with her of people who are concerned and praying…it makes be cry to know you are out there showing your love. Thank you!
Erin just went on a Starbucks run and I’ll be staying busy during this wait know that she’s in good hands — spiritually and physically.
Friends are welcome to check in with me directly or through Theda Clark Medical Center about visiting. I’m in the surgery waiting room near the main entrance most of the day.

To all of the Conyers: we are holding ALL of you in our prayers. We know that for each of you there is a very different set of injuries that needs immediate attention. For that we pray for first and foremost. For what follows in the future, we pray for God’s steadfast and enduring recovery, one step at a time, one day at a time. We love you and are praying for the needs that you have to be met. For you, Heidi, our friend and sister in Christ, we fervently pray for ease from pain, for the wisdom and care of your medical staff, and for you to concentrate only on what you need to do to recover. With love, the Scholten and VanderJagt families
Thinking of you all tonight. Huge hugs with continued prayers.
