Today I’ll be reading Psalm 99:1-5 during our time of corporate worship at Harvest. This is a powerful statement about God being King over all creation. He is our Holy God. In other words, he alone is God, our King. I heard Steven Curtiss Chapman’s song earlier today on the radio that says “…You are God and I am not…” – that’s pretty much what Psalm 99 is acknowledging as I read it. I find myself repeatedly reading verse 3, which says why God is worthy or our praise.

This is the Contemporary English Version –

Psalm 99
Our LORD Is King
1Our LORD, you are King!
   You rule from your throne
above the winged creatures, as people tremble
   and the earth shakes.
2You are praised in Zion,
   and you control all nations.
3Only you are God!
   And your power alone,
   so great and fearsome,
   is worthy of praise.
4You are our mighty King, a lover of fairness,
who sees that justice is done
   everywhere in Israel.
5Our LORD and our God,
   we praise you
and kneel down to worship you,
   the God of holiness!

Thank you God, for being my King! You are worthy of my praise today. Fill me, bless me, speak to me, and thank you that you see me through the work and person of your Son, Jesus, who died on the cross for me…Amen.
