I’m meditating on Easter today and reading from the book of Hebrews. As a worship pastor it’s very easy to get caught up in the busyness of the holiday.  I have to intentionally take a break from the planning mode and remove myself from the tasks that must be done for the job.  I have to slow down in order to fully appreciate and be able to celebrate the truth of Easter.  I’m finding myself overwhelmed (in a good way) and thankful for the word “is” today.  It’s a small word but so important for our Easter celebration.  I can say, with confidence, that Jesus Christ IS alive today, that he IS risen (not ‘has’ risen), that he IS interceding for me, that he IS my worship leader (Hebrews 2:12), that he IS seated at the right hand of God the Father (Hebrews 12:2), that he IS my King, that he IS coming again!

I posted the lyrics to a great song by Charlie Hall, the song is titled “Mystery” and we’ve done this song for Easter in previous years. Hall has a line in the song…”Christ has died, and Christ is risen, and Christ will come again” – it’s a powerful song and every time I sing this song I’m moved by this lyrical composition and truth. As you celebrate Easter this year have you thought about that little word – is? The “is-ness” of Christ is real!
